Governor Mead Finishing Work On State Budget [Audio]
For the last couple of months Governor Matt Mead has been working on a budget for the next two years. The new budget will be presented on December 1st. Governor Mead hopes to protect Wyoming from the prediction of flat revenue over the next few years.
National High School Finals Rodeo To See Improvements Through State Grant
Sweetwater County officials all came to an agreement on how to spend a $2.3 million state grant. A majority of the grant money, or approximately $1.9 million will go towards improvements for the National High School Finals Rodeo. The NHSFR will be held in Sweetwater County in 2012 and 2013.
Small Game and Upland Bird Hunting Season Begins September 1st
The hunting season for small game and upland bird species will begin September 1st in Wyoming. The 2011 walk-in hunting atlases are also available at state game and fish offices and license agents around the state.
Governors Of Flood-Stricken States Meet To Discuss Flood Control Issues
Governors from seven flood-stricken states signed a letter on Friday asking the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to review their river management practices to improve flood control. The meeting Friday was the first time governors meet together to discuss flood control. Flood damages in Wyoming were estimated to cost several million dollars.
Cheyenne Officials Making Sure Hail Damage Is Fixed The Right Way
The hail storm that pounded the city of Cheyenne on July 12th caused approximately $120 million in damages. Cheyenne Officials are now making sure that residents and contractors handle the damages the right way.
Wyoming Land Trust Constructing Fencing To Protect Migrating Wildlife
Wildlife and highways often don’t mix well together but thanks to new efforts by the Wyoming Land Trust a key migration route at the foot of the Wind River Mountains will be safer for both people and wildlife. Approximately 200 miles of fence will be erected along the migration route at the foot of the Wind River Mountains.
Two Wyoming Post Offices Remain Safe From Closures, Others Pending
The United States Postal Services is facing major budget cuts which in turn have lead to talks of closing several rural post offices across Wyoming. Multiple post offices are waiting to find out if they will be next on the chopping block but at least for now two will remain open.
