Medicine Bow National Forest Ready For Memorial Day Weekend
In contrast to recent years, a good number of open campgrounds and Forest roads will greet visitors to the Medicine Bow National Forest this Memorial Day weekend.
Preparations have been in full swing to ready areas for the holiday crowds and some recreation sites on the Brush Creek/Hayden, Douglas and Laramie Ranger Districts are open for the season. In certain cases, visitors will be welcomed back to sites that have seen significant work or have even been closed as a result of hazard trees from the beetle epidemic that swept across Western forests over the last decade.
2012 Wyoming Sports Hall Of Fame Ceremony to be Held in Casper
Four individuals and a set of brothers are among the 11th class of inductees into the Wyoming Sports Hall of Fame.
The newest class includes former University of Wyoming football standouts Casey Bramlet of Wheatland and David Edeen of Cheyenne; multi-state standout and coach Bruce Collins of Rock Springs; long-time Rawlins High volleyball coach Sandy Jebens and brothers Ben and Blaine Phillips of Sheridan.
Vioxx Settlement Nets Wyoming $624,000
Wyoming received more than $624,000 to reimburse Wyoming Medicaid in a national settlement with pharmaceutical company Merck Sharp & Dohme Corp. (Merck) regarding their drug Vioxx, Attorney General Greg Phillips announced today.
The settlement resolves allegations that Merck marketed Vioxx as a treatment for rheumatoid arthritis without federal approval and made false settlements about the car
Wild Horse Adoption Set For May 18 And 19
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the Wyoming Honor Farm will host a wild horse and burro adoption and gentling clinic May 18-19 in Riverton, Wyo.
On Friday, May 18, the Honor Farm will offer a free clinic to discuss the gentling program, followed by a preview of the horses. The clinic will feature demonstrations focusing on catching a horse, advance and retreat, picking up feet, and beginning to ride. The gentling clinic runs from 1-3 p.m. and is open to the public.
