The Albany County Republican Party will conduct a non-binding presidential straw poll, open to all registered Republicans in the county.

The event will take place at the precinct caucus meeting which begins at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18 at the Albany County Fair Grounds Building.

County Republican Chairman Mary Lee Egnaczak says, "This is your opportunity to express your opinion and to get involved." The opinion and mood of the county's Republicans voters in the upcoming presidential primary will be largely identified by the straw poll.

After the poll, the group will hold its precinct caucus, defining the issues that may shape the state Republican Party's political agenda. The county caucus is the first step in a multi-stage process that encourages grass roots participation in Republican Party politics.

The second step will be the local county convention on Thursday, March 8 at 5:30 p.m., also at the County Fair Grounds Building. Precinct representatives will vote to select an Alternate Delegate, who will travel to Florida for the Republican National Convention in August.  The representatives will also choose delegates and alternates to travel to Cheyenne for the State Republican Convention in April.
