Police in Westminster, Colorado are asking the public's help as they investigate the murder of a 10-year-old girl who was believed to have been abducted on her way to school.

Police say that the victim, Jessica Ridgeway, was last seen beginning a short walk from her home to Witt Elementary School on the morning of October 5th.  Police said Monday they have no major developments in the case.  On Wednesday, authorities discovered her body in an Arvada park about 7 mines west of her Westminster home.

The Associated Press reports that a memorial is planned for today in the Denver suburb of Arvada.

Authorities go on to say that they don't believe the slaying is related to the abduction and sexual assault of a girl from Cody Wyoming last week.  The victim in that case was found hours after being abducted.  Authorities arrested a suspect in connection with the Cody abduction, Jesse Speer, in Belgrade, Montana on Saturday.
