Behind a triple-double from Jade Kennedy, the Wyoming Cowgirls rolled past, over, around and through the Colorado State Rams, 83-43, Wednesday night at the Arena-Auditorium.

Kennedy scored 17 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out 11 assists in the 40-point blowout.  Three other Cowgirls finished in double figures in the Mountain West Conference opener.  Chaundra Sewell led with 18 points, while Hillary Carlson had 16 points and 11 rebounds and Aubrey Vandiver chipped in 16 points.

The Cowgirls (10-3, 1-0) began the game on a 17-4 run and never looked back.  Three early 3-pointers by Carlson, Vandiver and Kennedy set the tone,  as Wyoming went 10-of-25 from beyond the arc in the game and shot 52.6 percent from the field.  They also had 23 assists on 30 made field goals and out-rebounded the Rams 41-25.

UW led 39-23 at halftime and by as much as 42 points in the game.

Colorado State (7-7, 0-1) was led by Sam Martin with 11 points.  Pre-season all-conference selection Kim Mestdagh was held to 6 points and 1 rebound while committing 5 turnovers, thanks to the strong defensive play of senior Randi Richardson.

Wednesday night's loss is the worst of Holt's three years as head coach of the Rams.

The 40-point margin of victory is the second largest in the series for the Cowgirls and gives them a one-game lead in the overall series against CSU, 42-to-41.  It was also the 12th consecutive regular season victory for UW over CSU.

The Cowgirls will continue Mountain West Conference play against New Mexico Saturday in Alburquerque. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m. Coverage will begin on KOWB at 11:30 a.m.
