The Congressional Gold Medal is the highest civilian honor that can be awarded by Congress. The late Ted Miyamoto will be awarded the Congressional Gold Medal today in Washington D.C. Accepting the award will be  Miyamoto's daughter Terie.

Miyamoto a Japanese-American soldier from Cheyenne is one of the few who will be awarded today at the nation's capitol. He died in 2005 at the age of 83. He served in World War II for the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. The segregated unit experienced some of the most brutal and intense fighting in Europe and was the most decorated unit for their size and time of service.
