Being a college town, Laramie is without a doubt a very dynamic city. It seems like there are a plethora of things to get out and do on a regular basis if you are able to figure out what is going on in the first place. Thankfully with the evolution of the internet and Facebook this task becomes easier each day. We picked 5 Facebook pages you should like in order to stay well informed on what is going on around town. For the sake of being fair here we have excluded our network of sites but of course we think they are great resources for our community. If you haven't already liked them we would love to have you do so:

    Wyoming Department of Transportation

We were actually pretty surprised about this one, but the state actually does a really good job with the WYDOT facebook page so it steals our number 6 spot. With road conditions being so unpredictable in our Wyoming winters, staying up to date on road reports and closures is really helpful. After all what is the good of finding something great to run over and do in Cheyenne or Fort Collins if you can't make it there in the first place!

    University of Wyoming

This list would be very incomplete without including the University of Wyoming's facebook page since UW is such a large part of our community; it takes the number 5 spot. “Like” this page and you will get helpful hints about events going on around campus as well as cool facts like one of today's updates: “War Memorial Stadium was constructed so that it could eventually support a dome”. UW actually has a huge number of events open to the public so don't think it is only for college students; “Like” them today.

Wyoming Travel & Tourism – Albany County Tourism

We figured since it is Wyoming Travel and Tourism's job to keep people informed on what is going on around the state it deserved our attention. They have very regular updates of a helpful nature that aren't too annoying and have a lot of interactivity from fans as well. It is a great resource to figure out what is going on around the state for a weekend getaway so consider giving them your “Like”. You will also find that Albany County Tourism's facebook page is very helpful if you are looking for information on local happenings and don't want to travel too far. We know, we know this is two pages to “Like”, but both are great resources.

    Laramie Parks & Recreation

Laramie Parks & Recreation's facebook page takes the number three spot on our list. One nice thing about their page is that it is very comprehensive because it covers so many public venues like the Recreation Center and the Ice & Events Center, as well as all of our public parks and outdoor facilities. You will find information on everything from plans for new community improvements to sports leagues to special events at the facilities. There were things I didn't even know that the city coordinated before I joined the page. This one is very helpful!

    City Of Laramie

It only makes sense to give the official City of Laramie Facebook page our number two pick. You will get information about what is going on not only from the city but also other fans who “Like” the page as well. This will keep you up to date on everything from free landfill days to closures at public venues.

    Laramie Boomerang

Our number one choice of facebook pages to “Like” to keep up with what is happening around town goes to our local newspaper, the Laramie Boomerang. Of course the Boomerang has been around the block a time or two after being here for so many years and they post a lot to Facebook with local news and information. It is also nice to have a story behind whatever they are talking about on their webpage. “Like” them to keep up with the local news beat.
