Behind a career-high tying 29 points from Hillary Carlson, the Wyoming Cowgirls (6-2) overcame a sluggish first half to defeat the Westminster College Griffins 75-57 Saturday afternoon at the Arena-Auditorium.

Carlson scored 21 of her 29 in the first half, but Westminster College trailed by only one at half, 44-43, thanks to eight 3-point field goals. Wyoming also had nine turnovers that led to 12 points for the Griffins.

The Cowgirls allowed only 14 second half points, as their defense shut down Westminster.  UW allowed only 23 percent shooting in the half and forced 10 Griffin turnovers.

Aubrey Vandiver added 16 points and a career-high tying 17 rebounds, while Jade Kennedy and Chaundra Sewell scored 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Westminster College was led by Jenteal Jackson and Nicole Yazzie with 12 points apiece.  Allie Eastman chipped in 11.

The Cowgirls return to action Wednesday, as they take on Wisconsin.  Tip-off is set for 7 pm.
