Wyoming’s Unemployment Rate Still One of Lowest In Country
The unemployment rate in the State of Wyoming has continued to decline. Not only is it declining but it remains one of the lowest rates in the U.S.
According to a release on Tuesday, The Wyoming Department of Employment said the state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate continued to fall. The previous rate in March was 6.2% and the new release now puts the rate at 6% for April.
That percentage drop is significant. In comparison, in April of last year Wyoming's rate was 7.2%. Nationally, the unemployment rate is at 9%.
Sublette County takes the crown for Wyoming's lowest unemployment rate in April with 3.6%. Other counties with rates below 5% were Niobrara, Albany, Campbell and Converse. On the opposite end of the spectrum, counties that received highest ratings were Teton(12.8%), Lincoln(9.5%), and Johnson(7.8). Wyoming ranks seventh lowest overall in unemployment rate and also ranks 21st for job growth.
