Wyoming Welding Academy Already Draws Students From All Over

GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) — Western Welding Academy just outside Gillette looks less like a learning institution than a real-world job site.

Academy owner and founder Tyler Sasse says that's the goal. He runs the school like a job site. The Gillette News Record reports 15 students have graduated since Western Welding Academy opened almost a year ago.

The school now has about three dozen students, 85% of whom are from other states like Texas, Louisiana, South Carolina and Florida. Sasse says students who are willing to spend a few months in northeast Wyoming to learn how to weld are the kind he wants.
