A two-vehicle crash left one driver dead and another injured early Saturday morning on Wyoming Highway 59 near Douglas.

Terry Jackson, 48, died at the scene despite wearing his seat belt, according to a crash report from the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Per the Patrol's report, Jackson was headed south in a white Ford F-250 shortly before 5:45 a.m. near milepost 27 when he failed to negotiate a slight right curve in the highway, causing his driver-side tires to drift over the centerline.

The left side of Jackson's pickup collided with the left side of a truck tractor which was pulling a flatbed trailer. The Ford also hit the left front side of the flatbed trailer, which entered the driver's seat area of the pickup, fatally injuring Jackson.

Following the collision, the pickup ran off the right side of the highway and came to rest on the southbound shoulder.

After being hit by the pickup, the driver of the truck tractor lost control. The combination unit spun about 180 degrees and went off the right side of the road, where it rolled onto its side before coming to rest in the borrow ditch.

Two large hoppers which were being transported on the flatbed separated from the trailer during the rollover.

The crash report does not identify the injured party, nor does it identify two other people who were involved but not hurt.

The road surface was dry and weather was clear at the time of the crash. Troopers are investigating the possibility that Jackson was fatigued as the main contributing factor.
