Wyoming Man Arrested for Felony Voyeurism
Lyman police arrested a former Rock Springs resident for felony voyeurism last week.
Ryan Flaten, 27, was booked into the Uinta County Detention Center after being arrested by Chief Tom Clark on Nov. 17. He has since been released on bond.
In a press release, Lyman police say employees at a local Maverik store contacted Clark after a hidden video camera was found in the store's public restroom.
Employees told Clark that a GoPro camera had been placed inside a box, which was then set on top of boxes of cleaning supplies inside the restroom.
The suspect -- Flaten, who police say was a regular at the store -- was described to Clark, who reviewed surveillance video with employees.
Clark contacted other officers -- including Uinta County Sheriff's deputies, Mountain View Police officers and Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers -- and asked for their help finding Flaten and his vehicle.
On the morning of Nov. 17, Mountain View Police Chief Brian Sparks located Flaten's vehicle heading north from Mountain View. Flaten reportedly pulled into a local business in Urie, where Sparks and Uinta County Sheriff's Patrol Sergeant David Evins made contact with Flaten.
Evins asked Flaten if he would mind waiting to speak with Clark about an investigation, and Flaten agreed, police say.
Flaten was interviewed at the Lyman police department. When he was told of the nature of the investigation, Flaten reportedly refused to speak with officers, and requested an attorney.
Clark arrested Flaten and took him to jail. A search warrant was executed on Flaten's home and vehicle, where police say officers recovered a large amount of additional evidence in those searches.
