It’s on to the third day of the 2020 Wyoming High School State Championship Volleyball tournament with Class 3A taking to the courts on Friday in Casper.

With COVID protocols in place, all four classes will be held over four different days. This means teams will play all their state tournament matches within one day instead of spread over three days.

In Class 3A, there has been a new winner each year since 2012. The last repeat champion was Cody in 2010 and 2011. The Fillies now compete in Class 4A.

Rawlins is the defending 3A champs after sweeping Worland in the final last year. The Outlaws and Warriors will rematch in the first round on Thursday. This pairing is also the only one that features teams that played in the 2020 regular season. Rawlins won a 5-set match at home on Oct. 3 over Worland by scores of 20-25, 25-17, 22-25, 25-23, and 16-14.

Seven of the eight teams in this year’s field were part of the 3A state tournament in 2019. There is one rematch from last year’s first-round, and it’s Douglas against Lander Valley. The Bearcats won that one in five sets.

Buffalo is the only team with the same seed in the bracket as a year ago.

Here’s a breakdown of the teams by matchup:
