Wyoming House Revives Bill to Regulate Vaping
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — The Wyoming House of Representatives has approved a measure to regulate vaping products in the state.
In a convoluted process that saw House Bill 282 killed on Wednesday and revived on Thursday, the House approved the bill on a 39-20 vote and sent it to the state Senate for more debate.
The measure as originally introduced increased taxes on cigarettes by 50 cents pack. That bill was defeated on a 33-24 vote Wednesday.
But the proposal was revived Thursday over concern that vaping products are not currently regulated in Wyoming.
The new version allows the state to regulate vaping products like it already does with tobacco products. The tax increase was stripped out of the bill, although vaping products will now be subject to current state taxes.
