The Wyoming Highway Patrol announced Thursday afternoon that it's suspending services for VIN inspections due to safety measures when dealing with the COVID-19 environment.

"Some county clerks and treasurers throughout Wyoming have stopped issuing titles and registrations in person and have resorted to other ways to renew registrations such as online or through the mail," said Sgt. Jeremy Beck.

"VIN inspections are a low priority and are not a highway safety concern," he added.

Beck says the agency is suspending VIN inspections for 30 days, at which point it will reevaluate the possibility of the service returning.
