There is a #1 vs. #2 matchup, in all four classes this week, thanks to the latest coaches/media rankings.

There's been a shuffle on top of the new 4A rankings. Cheyenne East is back on top after winning the Casper Invitational. The Lady Thunderbirds defeated #2 Laramie in the championship match, but the Lady Plainsmen got some payback in conference play last night. The votes had already been counted, before the match ended. The 3-time defending champs (East) head to Phoenix, Arizona this weekend to play in the tournament of champions tournament. Former #1 Kelly Walsh drops to #3, as a result of losing in the first round of bracket play. The Lady Trojans head to Scottsbluff/Gering, NE to play some out of state competition. Campbell County and Evanston share the #4 spot. The Lady Camels will join 3 other Wyoming teams in Sheridan this weekend, to take on Montana competition from Billings and Bozeman.

Rawlins is the place to be Friday night...not just for 3A football, but 3A volleyball as well. Before the big game outside under the lights, the top ranked Lady Outlaws host #2 Douglas on the volleyball court. There's another game this weekend, featuring top 5 teams vs. each other. That's on Thursday night, when #4 Cody hosts #3 Riverton. Meanwhile, Lyman gets the #5 rankings, by 1 vote ahead of Worland.

#1 vs. #2 will also take place in 2A. On Thursday night, #2 Wright hosts #1 Sundance in northeast conference play. The Lady Panthers beat the Lady Bulldogs for the championship of the Big Horn Invitational 3 weeks ago, but the word didn't spread until last week. That was a non-conference game, so the stakes are higher this time around. Lusk continues to climb up the rankings are up to #3. The Lady Tigers host #5 Pine Bluffs and #4 Southeast this weekend.

There was a #1 vs. #2 in 1A last week, and it will happen again this week. Unanimous #1 Little Snake River and #2 Cokeville will battle again, with the rematch taking place in the Lady Panthers' gym on Saturday. Encampment will hold steady at #3 this week. Farson-Eden and Lingle-Ft. Laramie share the #4 ranking. F-E also has business with #2 Cokeville, Friday night in Pronghorn country.
