Wyoming High School Volleyball Rankings: Oct. 4, 2018
Some matchups this weekend could have a post-season feel to them, thanks to the new coaches/media rankings.
The top 2 teams in 4A meet this weekend, but fans of one team are in a pickle as far which live event to watch in person. #1 Kelly Walsh visits #2 Star Valley on Friday night, and Braves and Lady Braves fans have to choose between this, or the SV at Jackson football game. Thankfully, modern technology can allow them to watch both on line (SVI Media). Meanwhile, Laramie impressed the voters with their performance at the Casper Invitational, and Thunder Basin did the same in Scottsbluff, that both are tied for #3 this week. Cheyenne Central just hangs on to the #5 spot.
3A games this weekend are interesting in both the east and west. #2 Rawlins visits #3 Douglas on Saturday, in a rematch of last year's state championship game. Elsewhere, all of the west teams (#1 Lyman, #4 Mountain View and #5 Powell included) will be at the west conference duals at Lander, which is usually a preview of the regional tournament.
2A voting was a bit weak this week, and there's not much excitement on the schedule. Glenrock now shares the #5 ranking with Rocky Mountain, while the rest of the top 4 is unchanged...Wright, Pine Bluffs, Greybull and Southeast.
Most 1A teams will be checking out each other this weekend in northern Wyoming. Arvada-Clearmont hosts a tournament in Buffalo, which includes #2 Saratoga, #3 Lingle-Ft. Laramie, #4 Meeteetse and new #5 Farson-Eden. As for #1 Cokeville, they have the weekend off.
