Wyoming Flu Season Hasn’t Peaked Yet

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — Cases of the flu are on the rise in Wyoming as flu season picks up in the state.

There have been 142 flu-related cases reported this season. Though that number is relatively low, 78 of those cases were reported in the last two weeks.

Wyoming Department of Health spokeswoman Kim Deti says flu season typically runs from October to May. With such a large window, it can be hard to pinpoint when there will be an uptick in cases of the illness.

State epidemiologist Dr. Tracy Murphy says there were 29 influenza-associated deaths in Wyoming last year, which was unusually high.

The Wyoming Department of Health recommends that nearly everyone 6 months or older receive an annual flu shot.
