A 61-year-old Wyoming man is dead following a single-vehicle rollover crash Friday evening in Weston County.

Jonathan Bayert was driving a Dodge Ram southbound on Highway 116 when the crash occurred at 5:45 p.m. near Upton at milepost 1.75, according to a report from the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Bayert failed to negotiate a right-hand curve in the roadway, and the Dodge crossed the northbound lane of travel before leaving the pavement.

Bayert then overcorrected to the right, with the Dodge re-entering the highway. After Bayert overcorrected to the left, the pickup started to spin counter-clockwise.

The Dodge went into the northbound barrow ditch in a broadside slide, with the passenger side of the vehicle leading the slide, before rolling twice and coming to rest on its wheels.

During the rollover, Bayert -- who was not wearing his seat belt -- was completely thrown from the vehicle.

Weather was clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the crash. The Patrol is investigating driver inattention as a contributing factor.
