Wyoming Cowgirl Soccer Makes Its 2018 Season Debut

Wyoming Cowgirl soccer makes its season debut today (Thursday) on the road at South Dakota. The match against the Coyotes starts at 3 p.m.

Seventh-year head coach Pete Cuadrado has six starters and 16 letter winners returning from last season’s squad that finished 8-9-2 overall.

Coming off a 2-0 loss to 16th-ranked UCF in their exhibition match last week, the Cowgirls have had a week to prepare for South Dakota.

The Coyotes are a veteran team, as well, with seven starters and 17 letter winners back from a year ago. South Dakota was only 4-13 last season.

Cuadrado stated in a release from UW,

“We know that we are going to have our hands full with South Dakota. There is no such thing as a guaranteed result or easy game at our level. I know they’ll be excited. They have a new head coach, new staff and opening the season like we are. For us, it’s a business trip and we have to go focus on the details and execute a game-plan.”

This will be the fifth meeting between the two schools in women’s soccer. The most recent was Sept. 12, 2014, a 2-1 victory by Wyoming in Vermillion, SD.

The Cowgirls play at home Sunday versus Utah Valley at 1 p.m.
