Freshman Ricky Faure's victory in the 800 meters was the lone win for the University of Wyoming at the 2015 Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Faure helped the Wyoming Cowboys to a fifth place finish in San Diego, CA. The UW men amassed 99 points over four days of competition.

Faure became the first Cowboy freshman to win an outdoor title since 2008. He's also Wyoming's first outdoor 800 champ since Laramie native Jeremiah Johnson in 2004. Faure finished in a time of 1:48.79. That's good enough for the fifth-fastest time in MW championship history.

In the same race, teammates and grad students Harry Fisher and Thomas Atkinson were third and fourth, respectively.

The Wyoming men also received third place finishes from junior Tyler Anderson in the hammer throw and sophomore Jordan Charles in the 110 hurdles.

Four runner-up outcomes highlighted the Wyoming Cowgirls efforts at the Championships. The UW women scored 52 points and ended up in eighth place.

Friday, senior Holly Page was second in the 10,000 meters, while sophomore Audra DeStefano recorded the same finish in the steeplechase. Saturday saw sophomore Kerry White end up second in the 800 meters, while senior Erin Kirby had the same result in the 400 meter hurdles.

The Cowgirls 4X400 meter relay also came in second place.
