On Wednesday, June 1, WYDOT will begin the rehabilitation of Grand Avenue in Laramie, Wyo. between 21st and 30th Streets according to a release. All businesses will remain open in the work area, however their traditional accesses may be closed for short periods. The project is scheduled to be completed by July 31.

WYDOTsays one half of Grand Avenue will be reconstructed at a time and traffic will be diverted to one-lane travel in each direction. No left hand turns are allowed until the project is completed. Flaggers may be present and speeds may be lowered so minor delays are to be expected.

Simon Contractors will stabilize the sub-grade and build a new surface which should improve friction, provide a smoother ride, and decrease the formation of potholes. Various broken and cracked curb and gutter sections will be replaced throughout the project area and intersections at 22nd, 23rd and 26th will be brought up to full ADA compliance.

Traffic control will be extended to 17th street on June 6th when Simon Contractors will construct indented parking spaces in front of St. Paul's Newman Center. WYDOT says that project will take about ten days to complete and then the work zone will return to 21st to 30th Streets.

The cost of the rehabilitation of 21st to 30th Streets is $800,000. It is 100 percent state funded. The cost for indented parking in front of The Newman Center is $76,000. It is also completely state funded.

Reconstruction of the intersection at 30th Street is not included in the projects this summer.
