A woman accused of bringing ecstasy into the Albany County Detention Center pleaded not guilty in Albany County District Court Thursday.

Vanessa Amaya-Moya,  could face three years in prison and $3,000 in fines if convicted of the felony charge. Amaya-Moya was also charged with possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, for which she could face up to one year in prison and another $1,000 in fines.

According to court documents, Amaya-Moya was arrested on Oct. 11 by a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper for a misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance. Amaya-Moya was brought to the Albany County Detention Center and was asked if she had any more alcohol or drugs on her person. She said no and was told by deputies that if she did enter the facility with drugs or alcohol, it would be a felony.

During a strip search, a female deputy found a small plastic baggie with a number of small colored pills that the deputy recognized to be ecstasy, court documents state.

Amaya-Moya is out on 10 percent of a $5,000 signature bond.
