Wyoming Secretary of State Ed Murray calls the chances of the Wyoming chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws getting their petition on the "remote," with the Feb. 8 deadline rapidly approaching.

Murray stopped by the Laramie Live morning show for an interview with host David Settle.

Wyoming NORML has struggled with internal strife and external opposition in circulating their petition to place the Peggy A. Kelly Cannabis Act of 2016 on the upcoming general election ballot.

Chris Christian, former executive director of Wyoming NORML, was the only one of the five-member board of directors to remain with the organization after much turmoil within the group's leadership late last year.  She moved into the position of chapter secretary, but public relations director Carrie Satterwhite says Christian resigned after just weeks, citing frustration with other members of the organization.

UW student Matthew Shaffer has been circulating the Wyoming NORML petition in Laramie.  In the video below, he describes how trouble with the organization's leadership has impacted petition efforts at the local level.
