A Wheatland man was killed in a crash early Sunday morning just a few miles west of his home.

Gregory Taylor, 46, was traveling northbound on WY 311 in his 2002 Ford F-250 pickup truck at 3 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve near milepost two, about four miles west of Wheatland.

According to a news release from the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Taylor’s pickup left the road to the east, where it tipped and rolled. Despite wearing his seatbelt, Taylor died at the scene.

Wyoming Highway Patrol Sergeant David Wagener says alcohol use and driver fatigue are being investigated as contributing factors in the crash.

Taylor’s death marked the 16th highway fatality in Wyoming for 2016, compared with 46 highway fatalities throughout the state during the same period in 2015.
