When Wyoming Veterans Welcome Home Day was established, it was to partly make sure that no soldiers returning from war would have to face what Vietnam veterans did in the 1970′s. So it was only fitting to rededicate the Vietnam Memorial at the University of Wyoming on the second annual Welcome Home Day.

Wyoming Distinguished Service Cross recipients Barry Gasdek and Lee Alley unveiled the refurbished memorial with Maj. Gen. Luke Reiner in a ceremony Friday afternoon. Governor Matt Mead, UW President Tom Buchanan, UW Provost Myron Allen, Alley and Reiner all spoke.

UW established a Veterans Services Center on campus in fall 2010 to serve veterans enrolled at UW.
