UPDATE: Cheyenne Man Arrested for Roommate’s Murder
A 21-year-old Cheyenne man is in custody for second-degree murder after authorities say he shot his roommate to death.
Laramie County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Capt. Linda Gesell say deputies were called to 4401 Avenue B-2 around 2 a.m. yesterday (Tuesday) after Cody Hess reported shooting his roommate, 35-year-old Michael Robbins.
"Robbins was renting a room from Hess' parents, so they were household members," said Gesell. "Robbins had been living there since the first of October."
"Robbins, according to Hess, had come home intoxicated and there was a scuffle and a verbal argument that broke out between the two of them and then that's when Hess shot Robbins," Gesell added. "Hess did not appear to be intoxicated."
Gesell says Hess shot Robbins three times with a 9mm handgun that he was carrying in the front of his shorts. Two rounds went into Robbins' left chest and one bullet
grazed his left hand.
"We are still waiting on toxicology, we're still conducting some interviews in this case, but otherwise we have completed our search at the residence," said Gesell.
Hess is currently being held in the Laramie County Jail awaiting formal charges from the Laramie County District Attorney's Office.
