The Wyoming Department of Employment said Tuesday the unemployment rate in Wyoming was 6.4 percent in December 2010. That's down from 6.6 percent in November 2010 and 7.5 percent in December 2009.

In December 2010 there were 3,900 more jobs available than there were in December 2009.  The buiggest gain was in the natural resources and mining sector, which accounted for 3,200 of those jobs.

Wyoming is one of 15 states where the unemployment rate has gone down.   The national unemployment rate is currently 9.4 percent. The unemployment rate rose in 20 states last month, including Colorado, where unemployment is 8.8 percent.
