Trailer Fire Temporarily Closes I-90 On Saturday
The Wyoming Highway Patrol temporarily closed Interstate 90 about 12 miles north of Buffalo after a commercial trailer caught fire on Saturday afternoon, according to a prepared statement from Patrol Sgt. David Wagener.
About 2:15 p.m., Michael Robeson of Las Vegas, Nev., was driving a commercial truck pulling a trailer westbound on I-90. A passing motorist motioned to him that some of the trailer's tires were on fire.
After pulling over, Robeson and responding troopers were able to dampen the fire with extinguishers, but were unable to extinguish it.
Fire departments from Johnson County responded. They were able to contain the fire to the rear half of the trailer and save the truck from damage.
The Highway Patrol closed the westbound portion of I-90 until 5 p.m. for the safety of the firefighters and motorists.
