Today In History For January 24th

Today is January 24th and there are 341 days left in the year.

On this day back in 1961, a U.S. Airforce B-52 broke up and crashed near Goldsboro North Carolina. In the crash, three of the eight members were killed. The payload of two nuclear bombs was dropped but neither went off.

The year was 1848 and it was on this day that James W. Marshall discovered a gold nugget at Sutter's Mill in northern California. His discovery lead to the gold rush of '49.

Winston Churchill died at the age of 90 in London on this day back in 1965.
