Three Arrested, Nearly 300 Pounds of Pot Seized in Wyoming

A traffic stop on Interstate 80 in southern Wyoming led to the discovery of nearly 300 pounds of marijuana and three arrests on Sunday morning.

Sweetwater County Sheriff Mike Lowell says Deputy Sheriff Derek Morrell and his partner, K9 Deputy Jara, stopped a grey Dodge van with Illinois license plates on I-80 east of Rock Springs at about 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

Driving the van was 26-year-old Kyle Bolton. Mack Magee Jr., 61, and Antres D. Holliness-Ransom, 20, were the passengers. All three men are from Fort Wayne, Indiana, according to the Sweetwater County Sheriff's Office.

K9 Jara reportedly alerted to the presence of drugs, and a search of the van allegedly revealed some 293.3 pounds of marijuana, over $700 in cash and an electronic bank-style currency counting machine.

The street value of the marijuana is estimated to be roughly $1.4 million.

In a statement, Lowell said the marijuana was packaged in a total of 260 vacuum-sealed plastic bags that were spread across 10 suitcases and duffle bags. Several of those bags still had retail tags on them.

Bolton, Magee and Holliness-Ransom were arrested on charges of felony drug possession, unlawful manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance and conspiracy.

All three men made their initial appearances in Circuit Court in Green River on Monday morning. Bond for each man was set at $100,000 cash or surety.
