They've been two of Wyoming's elite runners over the past three and four years, now Sydney Thorvaldson and Peter Visser are contending for a national honor.

Both are coming off another state championship in cross country at the Class 3A meet in Afton, WY last Friday.

Thorvaldson won her fourth straight girls' title in dominating fashion. She won by over two-and-a-half minutes and capped an undefeated career of racing in Wyoming.

Visser captured his third consecutive championship with a victory by nearly 43 seconds.

Both improved upon their time on the same course a year ago.

Both are nominated this week for the MileSplit National Performer of the Week for the sport of cross country around the U.S. You can vote for them now. Click the links below to vote for each individual runner from Wyoming.

Thorvaldson is being considered for the girls' honor.

Visser is contending for the boys' honor.

Let's get some national recognition for two of the best runners in state history and across the country, right now. Both were second, but Visser was closer than Thorvaldson.
