LARAMIE – The distinction of having the first Army National Guard recruiting office in the state of Wyoming goes to Laramie.

Come and meet your local Wyoming Army National Guard Recruiters from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, as the Wyoming Army National Guard and the Laramie Chamber Business Alliance host a ribbon cutting and open house at its first storefront recruiting office located at the University of Wyoming Plaza, 2523B Grand Avenue in Laramie.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will be at 4:30 p.m. and appetizers will be served.

As a historical footnote, the Wyoming Army National Guard’s first unit, Company A, 1st Wyoming Regiment, was established in 1888, in Laramie.

Under the 94th Troop Command, Laramie and Rock Springs are now the home of the 133rd Engineer Company. The 133rd built Lake Wyoming, a W-shaped reservoir in Iraq, while deployed for Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005.
