The 2017 Wyoming Cowboys Football Schedule Is Out
Seven home games, a visit from rival Colorado State and the first-ever visit by Oregon highlight the 2017 Wyoming Cowboys football schedule released Thursday.
The slate features action against six teams that went to bowl games and four home games in the month of September.
The upcoming 2017 season is only the third time in program history the Cowboys have hosted seven games at War Memorial Stadium. The previous times were in 1990 and 2008.
Wyoming opens Sept. 2 at Iowa. That’s followed by four in a row in Laramie. The home debut for the 2017 Cowboys is Sept. 9 versus FCS opponent Gardner-Webb. The Ducks will make their first appearance in the Gem City on Sept. 16.
The Mountain West opener will be at home against Hawai’i on Sept. 23. The final of four straight at home comes to an end on Sept. 30, when the Pokes host Texas State.’
After a bye week to start October, Wyoming is on the road for two consecutive games. They play at Utah State on Oct. 14 and then will head to Boise State on Oct. 21. The New Mexico Lobos will visit Laramie on Oct. 28 for the annual Homecoming game.
The four games in November feature two at home and two on the road. The annual ‘Border War’ series will be in Laramie on Nov. 4. Wyoming will travel to another Front Range rival the next week, when they play at Air Force on Nov. 11. The home finale will take place on Nov. 18 against Fresno State. The regular season concludes Nov. 25 at San Jose State.
The Cowboys are coming off a Mountain Division title and a 6-0 record at home with wins over two Top 25 opponents. UW also hosted the Mountain West Championship game and made an appearance in the Poinsettia Bowl.
As of now, all games are on Saturday’s, but that could change. Television coverage and game times will be announced at later times.
