Winter Storm

While predicting the weather in southeast Wyoming is often a bit dicey, and winter storms aren't always all they are cracked up to be, the forecasters absolutely got Xylia right. Welcome back to Snowpocalypse 2021.

This week's winter storm was one for the record books, with Cheyenne setting a new daily snowfall record on Wednesday.

A black ice advisory is in effect for the 11-mile stretch between Otto Road and the I-25/I-80 interchange.

Winter conditions have forced the closure of hundreds of miles of Interstate 80 in southeast Wyoming, causing many places around Cheyenne to close.

The agency says Cheyenne has a 66 percent chance of getting 6 inches of snow, and a 30 percent change of getting 8 inches.

Travel could be very difficult along Interstate 80 west of Cheyenne this evening into early Wednesday morning, where up to half a foot of snow could fall.

Power outages, extremely poor travel conditions, and sub-zero wind chills are expected.
