Protests

Up to 12,000 inmates in eight California prisons are said to be entering the ninth day of a hunger strike, protesting the manner and length in which inmates are kept in solitary confinement.

Protesters critical of corporate influence over politics and who want higher taxes on wealthy individuals continued to march on Wall Street this weekend, resulting in some 80 arrests for disorderly conduct. Members of the movement, dubbed Occupy Wall Street, claim many of the arrests were unwarranted, and videos taken by spectators show what appears to be particularly rough handling of the protest

Protests in Egypt continued today and the military said it would cease to use force against the demonstrators. Other nations are backing the protestors and urging Egypt’s government to consider reform.

Over fifty students marched on the University of Wyoming campus Friday afternoon with signs to show their opposition to a couple of house bills dealing with illegal immigration and the validity of same-sex marriages.
