Hurricane force winds

Extreme wind speeds are nothing new for Wyoming, but yesterday (March 14th, 2023), they were higher than normal.

Hurricane-force winds are expected to slam southeast Wyoming today.

Friday brought hurricane-force winds to southeast Wyoming, closing roads, including Interstate 80 between Rawlins and Laramie, to light, high-profile vehicles.

Wind gusts in excess of 65 mph were also seen along Interstate 80 from Elk Mountain to Cheyenne.

Blowing snow will be a concern across portions of southeast Wyoming and the northern Nebraska Panhandle Wednesday, where light snow and hurricane-force winds are expected.
