According to U.S. Census figures released on Thursday (August 12th), Wyoming remains the least populated state in the country. Not only that, but aside from just a few others, it was also one of the slowest growing states in population overall from 2010 to 2020.
Leaders of metro areas like Bismarck, North Dakota, and Cheyenne, Wyoming had worried the change would prevent urban areas from getting designated federal funding.
U.S. Census Bureau public information officer Kristina Barrett says her office is aware of the concerns and has been working to make corrections ahead of the census.
