Fire officials expect to announce the cause of the Sheep Herder Hill Fire next week. Officials with the Natrona County Fire Protection District and Natrona County Emergency Management say they’re still investigating the site of the blaze and are drafting the final report.

All evacuations on Casper Mountain since the start of the Sheep Herder Hill fire have now been lifted. Officials with Natrona County Emergency Management say all land owners now have access to their property without escort. The fire destroyed 37 cabins and homes, and damaged dozens of outbuildings.

Fire officials say the Sheepherder Hill fire has scorched just over 15,500 acres since its start on Sept. 9. 37 homes and 22 outbuildings have been confirmed destroyed. Two homes have been damaged. The fire is 100 percent contained.

As of 5:25 p.m. on Sunday, the Sheep Herder Hill fire is 100% contained.

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — Some people evacuated by a wildfire burning on Casper Mountain have been allowed to return home as firefighters make progress against the blaze.

The Sheep Hearder Hill fire, burning in the Casper Mountain area just south of Casper, is threatening about 150 homes, which involves the evacuation of approximately 400 people.
