Special Olympics Summer Games Featured Great Sportsmanship

LARAMIE – The Gem City was swarming with athletes, as Laramie welcomed the 2019 Special Olympics Wyoming Summer Game participants and their families this past week.

The friendly competition for the Summer Games took place from Thursday through Saturday, May 9-11, at Old Deti Stadium and several other venues in Laramie. Basketball events were held at Corbett Gym, the UW field house, and the Laramie Rec center, with Track and Field events at Deti Stadium. Swimming events were held at Laramie High School.

Awards ceremonies took place immediately after each competition. Every athlete displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the event, cheering for every competitor, win or lose. The Elvis Presley-themed Victory Banquet was held at the High School.
