The Snowy Range Summer Theatre program is celebrating it's 60th season this year with a selection of three plays that will open over the course of the summer.

All the plays have plot ties to mass media, Time Stands Still is the first play on the schedule, set to open June 11th.  Kathy Kirkalde, spokesperson for the UW Department of Theatre and Dance says that Time Stands Still is about a couple of jet-setting photojournalist types who find themselves stuck at home.

"They live these very exciting and dangerous lives," says Kirkalde.  "Then they have to come home and learn how to deal with each other as a couple, at home, where it's sort of domestic and boring."

Time Stands Still will run June 11-13, tickets cost $10 for the public and $7 for students, senior citizens and children over 5.

The Snowy Range Theatre's season continues June 25-29 with the winner of the 2001 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy and nominated for three Tony awards, Stones in His Pockets.  This play tells the story of an Irish Village turned upside down by a Hollywood film crew.  The show features  guest actors Jake Staley and Jason Pasqua portraying more than a dozen eccentric characters, from the film’s spoiled American starlet to the star-struck locals.

The final show of the season is Waiting for A Chinook: A New Play about Old Newspapers, a premiere production by Gregory Hinton, an acclaimed writer, filmmaker and independent curator, and son of a Wyoming newspaper family.  The play follows Vince, a disillusioned city reporter who, in the wake of the drastic declines suffered by metro daily newspapers, returns to his boyhood Western town to search for place and meaning in the writings of his late father, a Wyoming country editor.  Waiting for A Chinook: A New Play about Old Newspapers runs July 9-13.

All theatre performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the UW Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts Studio Theatre.
