The skeletal remains found at the base of Casper Mountain has been identified as a missing Kansas man.

Natrona County Coroner Connie Jacobsen says through dental records, the remains have been identified as 22-year old Michael Brayden Fuksa from Olathe, Kansas.

She adds that the cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Sergeant Aaron Shatto with the Natrona County Sheriff's Office says Fuksa left Olathe, Kansas on July 15th, 2009.

One day later, it was reported that he was in Wyoming.

"On July 16th, 2009, Brayden had a flat tire on his Ford Explorer, near Wheatland, Wyoming, where he was last reported seen alive. Later that day, the Wyoming Highway Patrol State Trooper located Brayden's vehicle abandoned on Interstate 25 near mile marker 122. How Brayden ended up in the Wolf Creek area in Natrona County, remains a mystery."

Fuksa's skeletal remains were found by hikers in the Wolf Creek area, somewhere behind the Walmart on the west side of Casper.

Sheriff's officials did recover a weapon on the scene.

Fuska had a warrant for his arrest out of Kansas for burglary.
