Sheridan police on Wednesday arrested a man after he allegedly shot and killed another man in an apartment building.

Christopher Macloughlin Labuy, 33, was taken into custody on a first-degree murder charge, according to a news release from the Sheridan Police Department.

Police say that at 11:13 p.m. Wednesday, the department received a report of an alleged homicide at 1410 North Main Street, which is an apartment building.

The reporting party said his friend, Macloughlin, knocked on his door and said he had shot a man in another apartment in the building.

Police officers arrived and detained Labuy. Police and Rocky Mountain Ambulance staff found the victim, who had apparently died of a gunshot wound.

Detectives determined that probable cause existed to arrest Labuy on a first-degree murder charge. Labuy was booked into the Sheridan County Jail.

The name of the victim and further details will be released pending notification of family, police say.

Labuy is set to make his initial appearance in Sheridan County Circuit Court at 2 pm. Thursday.

Police say there is no danger to the community, and there are no further suspects in the investigation. The apartment building was not evacuated, and all residents have access to their apartments.
