Some of the most scenic highways in Wyoming are or will soon open to motor vehicle traffic.

WYDOT snow plow crews have been able to open all but one seasonal highway in the state.

On Friday, May 26th,  the gates were opened on US Highway 212 over the Beartooth Pass, as well as Dunraven Pass inside Yellowstone National Park and on a 13 mile stretch of Wyoming State Highway 130 west of Centennial.

Inclement weather could force a short term re-closure of the roads.

Only a 22-mile stretch of Wyoming State Highway 70 between Encampment and Baggs has not yet opened, and snow plow crews have turned their attention to that section of highway.

During the winter, those mentioned highways close, because too much snow and too little traffic in those areas, make it impractical for crews to plow them.
