UNDATED (AP) __ The miracle summer for the Los Angeles Dodgers continues. The Dodgers ran their winning streak to eight by rallying for a 5-4 win over the New York Mets in 12 innings. That's the Dodgers' 40th win in their last 48 games, a surge that has them leading the National League West by seven and a-half games over Arizona.

Dodgers' rookie Yasiel Puig (yah-SEEL' pweeg) opened the rally with a double. Then Adrian Gonzalez ended it with an opposite field single down the third base line. The Dodgers rallied from an early 4-0 deficit.

Andre Ethier (EE'-thee-ur) tied it with a pinch-hit two-run homer in the ninth off Mets reliever LaTroy Hawkins.

The Mets' Marlon Byrd came a triple short of the cycle. He hit his 18th home run, a three-run shot.

In other NL action:

— The Pittsburgh Pirates' lead in the NL Central is back up to three games over St. Louis after beating the Cardinals 5-1 last night. Francisco Liriano (leer-ee-AH'-noh) tossed a four-hitter for his 13th victory. Pedro Alvarez and Garrett Jones homered for the Pirates, who snapped a season-worst four-game losing streak.

__ Atlanta doubled up Philadelphia 6-3. Chris Johnson drove in three runs. Jason Heyward homered for the Braves, who've won two straight and 17 of 19 to lead the majors with a .612 winning percentage.

__ Washington won its fifth in a row by holding off San Francisco 6-5 for Jordan Zimmermann's 14th victory. Anthony Rendon (rehn-DOHN') delivered a two-run double in the Nats' five-run fourth inning. Ian Desmond hit his 17th homer for the Nats. Denard (deh-NARD') Span saved the game with a diving catch in center field for the final out with two runners on base.

— Bronson Arroyo gave up just two hits over seven innings to lead Cincinnati to 5-0 win over the Cubs. Arroyo faced the minimum number of hitter through six innings on the way to improving to 11-9. He struck out seven and walked none. Todd Frazier supplied all the offense Cincinnati would need with a first inning homer. He drove in two runs.

— Troy Tulowitzki (too-loh-WIT'-skee) and Corey Dickerson each drove in a pair of runs in Colorado's 4-2 win over San Diego.

Over in the AL:

— Miguel Cabrera hit a towering three-run homer to help Detroit end a three-game skid with a 6-4 win over the White Sox. Cabrera's third inning homer tied the score, then Omar Infante put the Tigers ahead for good with an RBI single in the three-run sixth inning. The AL Central-leading Tigers had lost four of five following a 12-game winning streak.

— The New York Yankees pounded the L.A. Angels 11-3. Alfonso Soriano homered twice for the second straight night and drove in a career-high seven runs. That gives him a staggering 13 RBIs in two games.

— Toronto outlasted Boston 4-3 in 10 innings. Brett Lawrie drove in the winning run with a line-drive single. David Ortiz and Mike Napoli (NAP'-oh-lee) homered for the Red Sox, who've lost four of six.

— Tampa Bay is three games back of Boston in the AL East because the Rays rallied with two in the ninth to nip Seattle 5-4. Recently acquired Jason Bourgeois (BOOJ'-wah) delivered the game-winning hit for the Rays.

— Michael Branley's sacrifice fly in the top of the 12th inning completed a comeback for Cleveland with a 9-8 win over Minnesota. The Indians trailed 7-3 heading into the eighth inning. Carlos Santana and Jason Giambi homered for the Indians, who won for just the third time in 10 games.

__ Houston edged Oakland 2-1 in 11 innings. Carlos Corporan hit an RBI double in the 11th inning for the tiebreaking run.

In interleague action:

—The Arizona Diamondbacks are making a habit out of walkoff victories. For the third straight game, the D-Backs scored in their final at-bat. Aaron Hill's single in the bottom of the 14th scored the winning run in Arizona's 5-4 win over Baltimore to complete a three-game interleague sweep of the Orioles.

__ Texas rallied with three runs in the seventh to beat Milwaukee 5-4. Elvis Andrus broke out of a slump with two hits and two RBIs. The AL West-leading Rangers had been 7-40 when trailing after six innings.

— Miami took advantage of a fielding error by third baseman Elliott Johnson in the seventh inning to score two runs and take the lead on the way to a 5-2 win over Kansas City.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Kansas City has acquired versatile Emilio Bonifacio (boh-nih-FAH'-see-oh) from Toronto for cash or a player to be named later. Bonifacio was traded to the Blue Jays from the Marlins last offseason, and was hitting .218 with three homers and 12 stolen bases. He's played all three outfield spots but can also play second base and third base, two positions of importance for the Royals due to injuries.

In other baseball news:

— St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina (YAH'-dee-eer moh-LEE'-nah) expects to be in the lineup Thursday, the first day he's eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list from a right knee strain.

__ MLB Executive Vice President Joe Torre has given his instant replay proposal to the executive committee to consider as baseball's brass huddled for two days of meetings in Cooperstown, N.Y. Baseball is looking to expand video reviews for the 2014 season.
