Rock Springs Woman Dies In Crash Near Edgerton
A Rock Springs woman died as a result of a head-on collision near Edgerton on Thursday afternoon, according to a news release from the Wyoming Highway Patrol on Friday morning.
Sarah R. Spiker, 26, was driving a sport utility vehicle east on Wyoming Highway 387 near mile post 103 about three miles northeast of Edgerton, according to the news release from Patrol Sgt. David Wagener.
At 3:30 p.m., a pickup driven by William L. Gifford, 20, of Casper was westbound and entered the eastbound lane. The pickup collided head-on with Spiker's SUV.
Spiker was not wearing her seat belt and died at the scene.
Gifford was wearing his seat belt, and was taken by life flight to the Wyoming Medical Center. His condition is unknown at this time.
The crashed caused the highway to be closed until 10:05 p.m..
The Wyoming Highway Patrol is investigating the crash and charges are pending.
This marked the 119th highway fatality in Wyoming in 2015, compared to 125 fatalities this same time last year.
