UNDATED (AP) — The New York Rangers finally have their first win of the Stanley Cup playoffs after scoring just once in the first two games of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series with Washington.

Derek Stepan (STEP'-ahn) snapped a 3-3 tie with 6:25 remaining before the Rangers held on to beat the Capitals 4-3. Arron Asham (ASH'-um) put the Rangers ahead earlier in the third period, but Jay Beagle tallied 4 ½ minutes later before Henrik Lundqvist shut the door the rest of the way.

Derick Brassard had a goal and two assists for the Rangers, who went over 124 minutes without scoring before Brian Boyle beat Braden Holtby 12:50 into the game.

The series stays at Madison Square Garden for Game 4 on Wednesday.

Boston spoiled Toronto's first home playoff game in nine years as David Krejci (KRAY'-chee) collected a goal and two assists in the Bruins' 5-2 triumph against the Maple Leafs. The Bruins took control when Nathan Horton and Daniel Paille (PY'-ay) scored 2:02 apart late in the second period to make it 4-1.

Adam McQuaid and Rich Peverley also scored, and Milan Lucic (LOO'-chihch) had three assists as Boston bounced back from Saturday's 4-2 loss to take a 2-1 lead in the conference quarterfinals. Tuukka (TOO'-kah) Rask protected the lead by making 17 of his 45 saves in the third period.

The Leafs will host Game 4 on Wednesday.

The Detroit Red Wings have knotted their conference quarterfinal series at two games apiece by beating Anaheim 3-2 on Damien Brunner's goal at 4:50 of overtime. Brunner's game-winner came after Pavel Datsyuk (DAHT'-sook) tallied with 6:33 left in regulation to extend the game.

Ducks netminder Jonas Hiller stopped Detroit's first 32 shots and finished with 46 saves after blanking the Wings in Game 3 on Saturday.

Jimmy Howard stopped 31 shots for the Red Wings, who travel to Anaheim for Game 5 on Wednesday.

Los Angeles and St. Louis are also deadlocked at two games apiece after Anze Kopitar (AHN'-zhay KOH'-pih-tahr) and Justin Williams scored 1:16 apart in the third period of the Kings' 4-3 win over the Blues. Jeff Carter and Dustin Penner had the other goals for the defending Stanley Cup champions, who erased an early two-goal deficit and fell behind again in the third period before earning their ninth consecutive home victory since March 23.

The Blues wasted T.J. Oshie's (OH'-sheez) two goals and became the first team in 12 years to lose a playoff game to the Kings after building a two-goal cushion.

The series moves back to St. Louis for Game 5 on Wednesday.
