The Warren FCU Foundation is donating $10,000 to the Laramie Main Street Alliance to help beautify Laramie, and the public is invited to celebrate.

The public is invited to a public festivity and check presentation that will take place at the Laramie Historic Railroad Depot on Saturday, October 18th from 11:00 am to 12:30pm. The event is after the University of Wyoming Homecoming Parade.

The unique campaign was established to encourage a pay-it-forward mentality. Dubbed the “Do-Gooders Unite!” campaign, the project was kicked off at Warren Federal Credit Union’s annual Member Appreciation BBQ on Thursday, June 12. On September 22, the credit union’s Laramie branch opened their 200th Do-Good Account, marking the completion of the campaign. As part of the partnership, the Warren FCU Foundation will be presenting $10,000 donation on October 18 at the public event.

“We are extremely grateful that so many individuals have taken the Do-Good Pledge in our community,” said Eric Miller, Laramie Branch Manager. Among the Do-Gooder pledges that have already been undertaken are:

  • Restoring historic Wyoming landmarks
  • Volunteering at the Soup Kitchen
  • Volunteering for the PTA
  • Donating to the animal shelter
  • Volunteering at Wyoming Public Radio
  • Donations to the Clothing Cottage
  • Donating Art Supplies to the Crisis Center
  • Volunteering with Feeding Laramie Valley
  • Volunteering at Interfaith
  • Mowing an elderly neighbor’s yard
  • Picking up trash in Downtown Laramie

“All of us at the Laramie Main Street Alliance are thrilled with the outcome of the Do-Gooder campaign and couldn't be happier regarding our new partnership with Warren. The Warren team embodies the true entrepreneurial spirt of innovation, partnership, hard work and care for community,” said Downtown Laramie board member, Trey Sherwood.

Food and beverages from local downtown businesses will be served at the Saturday event, including green chile from La Conquista Perez Mexican, beer from Coal Creek Tap and coffee from Coal Creek Coffee.
