Cheyenne Police Respond to Stabbing

Cheyenne Police Detectives continue to investigate a stabbing that occurred last night at 3815 Holmes Avenue that sent one woman to the hospital. Cheyenne Police Department spokesman Officer Dan Long says officers responded to the residence about 6:30 p.m. and found a 28-year-old Cheyenne woman with a stab wound. The woman was transported to the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. Her condition is currently unknown.

Christopher Cauwenberghs, 30, of Cheyenne, was believed to have assaulted the woman during a domestic dispute. Cauwenberghs fled from the scene when officers arrived, but was later apprehended. Cauwenberghs was arrested and booked into the jail on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, interference with peace officers and domestic violence charges.

This case remains under investigation by Cheyenne Police Detectives.
