A strong second quarter helped the Laramie Plainsmen defeat the Windsor (CO) Wizards 64-55 win Friday afternoon. After suffering their first loss of the season Thursday night to Greeley Central in the Greeley Boys Basketball Invitational, the Plainsmen bounced back and will play for the Consolation Championship in the tournament.

Laramie (5-1) out-scored Windsor 16-8 in the second period and built a 31-22 lead by halftime. The Wizards cut the deficit to seven at the end of the third, 44-37, but the Plainsmen went on a 13-5 at the start of the fourth quarter. The advantage reached 16 points, at 62-46, as LHS shot a steady diet of free throws in the final four minutes with Windsor fouling to try and get back in the game.

Sam Feldman led three Plainsmen in double figures with a game-high 20 points. He also added a team-high eight rebounds. Sam Hainline scored 18 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, with Tyler Loose added 15 points. A big key for Laramie was how they limited mistakes with only 9 turnovers in the game.

Windsor (4-4) was led by Dylan Oschner with 18 points.

The Wizards scored the first 5 points of the game before LHS responded with an 11-2 run. The Plainsmen never trailed after that. It was 15-14 at the end of the first quarter.

Laramie will face the Northridge Grizzlies in the 5th place game Saturday at 4 pm. You can listen to Plainsmen basketball on KOWB beginning at 3:15 Saturday afternoon. David Settle and VerDon Hoopes will call the action from Baggot Gymnasium at Greeley Central High School.
